A Country Fire Authority volunteer has died while fighting a fire in Victoria's west.
Victoria Police said the 66-year-old man collapsed while responding to a suspicious blaze at a property in Portland on Tuesday morning.
His brigade colleagues, Fire Rescue Victoria firefighters and paramedics performed CPR but he could not be revived, the CFA said.
"Our deepest sympathies go out to the member’s family, friends and colleagues at the Portland Brigade," the fire service said in a statement.
"Our wellbeing team is providing support to all involved at this sad time."
The fire happened at a shed and toilet room in Portland at 7.30am, with the structure destroyed in the blaze.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
The shed fire was one of four suspicious blazes in the town on Tuesday and investigators believe they are linked.
No arrests have been made and anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area has been asked to come forward.
