Storm's Munster to face Penrith despite ongoing illness

Star Melbourne playmaker Cameron Munster remains quarantined from Storm training as he continues to battle illness ahead of their blockbuster NRL clash with Penrith on Friday night.

Munster missed the Storm's last-round win over Manly and remains away from their headquarters for fear of infecting his teammates as they look to topple the ladder leaders at Marvel Stadium.

He fell sick with a mystery bug just before State of Origin last Wednesday night and suited up to help Queensland win the series, but hasn't trained since.

"He's still sick at the moment," said Munster's halves partner Jahrome Hughes.

"The club's just giving him a couple of days off just to get him back to being OK.

"All reports are that he will be fine and I think he was much better today, but what he had I don't think they wanted him to pass it on to anyone else so they're just playing it smart, but he will be there."

The Panthers meanwhile welcome back their Origin quintet - Blues players Jarome Luai, Stephen Crichton, Liam Martin, Isaah Yeo and Brian To’o - who sat out the win over Newcastle.

Taking on in-form North Queensland, Daine Laurie will have his first ever start in the No.6 jersey for Wests Tigers after looking to reinvent himself.

Making his name as a fullback, Laurie impressed coach Tim Sheens with his play-making efforts in the NSW Cup to push Starford To'a out of the position.

Cowboys hit-man Jason Taumalolo, who was a late withdrawal against Souths with a hamstring injury, has been named as 18th man for the Saturday afternoon clash in Townsville.

Coming off the bye, Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon retained the 17-man squad that beat the Bulldogs in their last outing for their Thursday night derby clash with St George Illawarra.

Dragons centre Moses Suli (concussion) has been replaced by veteran Tautau Moga while second-rower Ben Murdoch-Masila gets a start.

Absent since round 12, Manly lock Jake Trbojevic will make a timely return against the Sydney Roosters with both sides desperate for a win on Sunday afternoon at 4 Pines Park.

Winger Jason Saab and centre Brad Parker have also been named after missing their loss to Melbourne through injury.

Joseph Suaalii returns from suspension in a boost for the Roosters but on the flip side they've lost Angus Crichton to a knee injury.

Suspensions have meant changes in the Warriors-South Sydney game on Friday night in Auckland.

Mitch Barnett returns from a sideline stint to replace another suspended player in Marata Niukore in the Warriors 17 while banned Souths back-rower Jacob Host has been replaced by Michael Chee Kam in the starting side.

Canberra prop Josh Papali'i will miss the Gold Coast clash with a hamstring injury while centre Jarrod Croker has been selected subject to a concussion clearance from the NRL.

The Titans welcome back captain Tino Fa'asuamaleaui after an Origin rest.

Brisbane will be without injured forwards Thomas Flegler and Jordan Riki against the Dolphins on Saturday night with Keenan Palasia and Xavier Willison the new faces.

The Dolphins have hooker Jeremy Marshall-King back on deck.

Khaled Rajab will get his first start as Canterbury five-eighth in place of Karl Oloapu while Newcastle have lost centre Dane Gagai for the Sunday afternoon clash at Accor Stadium.
