The Hockeyroos have beaten world No.5 Belgium in Antwerp to record their seventh win of the FIH Pro League season.
Goals from Courtney Schonell and Rosie Malone settled a fast-paced encounter as the Australians continue to fine-tune ahead of August's Oceania Cup, which doubles as qualifiers for next year's Olympic Games in Paris.
The Hockeyroos arrived in Antwerp coming off an impressive shootout win over the world's No.1 team the Netherlands.
Belgium were unbeaten in their previous five matches.
Defender Karri Somerville lined up for her first international since last year’s Commonwealth Games, while striker Mariah Williams took to the field for her first match of the European tour after recovering from knee injury.
The Hockeyroos started brightly, Steph Kershaw linking with Malone early on who in turn found Schonell in the circle but the forward's shot was saved.
Schonell would not be denied a second time, the 22-year-old expertly striking a first-time volley into the back of the net on eight minutes.
Goalkeeper Jocelyn Bartram made a fine outstretched save from a stinging Belgian effort, before the Hockeyroos withstood a Belgian penalty corner at the end of the first half to keep their lead intact.
The Hockeyroos doubled their advantage five minutes after the break with a well-executed penalty corner.
Maddy Fitzpatrick slapped the ball in hard and low, pinpointing the unmarked Malone who deflected in from close range to complete the scoring.
“We had a game plan going into it and we executed it quite well,” Hockeyroos defender Penny Squibb said.
“There are still things to learn and take into our next game so we’ll review this one and look to improve.
“It’s always nice to win, to execute our skills and play well as a team. We are all about team performances.”
A 2-0 win leaves the Hockeyroos second in the table ahead of their final match of the campaign, also against Belgium, on Monday (4.40am Tuesday AEST).
