Moguls queen Anthony wins yet again in the US

Jakara Anthony has equalled fellow Olympic moguls champion Dale Begg-Smith's Australian record of 18 career World Cup victories with her 10th title of the season in the United States.

Anthony cruised through the early rounds of the dual moguls event in Waterville before thrashing American Tess Johnson 32-2 in their semi-final.

The final against another American, Jaelen Kauf, was a much tighter affair, with the Australian winning it 18-17 for her eighth straight triumph of what has been a remarkably dominant season.

"It was really cool to come to Waterville, I haven’t been to too many brand new places on tour recently, so to come to somewhere new and experience it has been really awesome, and I love competing in the United States," said the 25-year-old Anthony.

Earlier in the weekend, Anthony won the single moguls at Waterville.

The next challenge on the agenda is equalling American Hannah Kearney's record of 11 World Cup moguls wins in a single season, a feat she could well accomplish next week at Deer Valley, the freestyle venue for the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics.

"Deer Valley is always the highlight of the season for everyone, so really looking to that," said Anthony.

"They put on a good show there and it’s one of my favourite courses.

"It’s where I got my first World Cup start, my first world championship podium and I had a win there last year, so looking forward to getting back there.

"It’s been a crazy season, one win off that record set by Hannah Kearney, it’s getting close now.

"We will have to see what the rest of season brings, but I won’t be focusing on that too much."

Cooper Woods was the leading Australian man in the dual moguls at Waterville, where he bowed out in the quarter-finals to finish seventh overall.
