A man shot by police near Brisbane is in a stable condition in hospital as ethical standards officers investigate the incident.
The 40-year-old was shot by police after officers attended a Croydon Road address in Logan Central about 1pm on Wednesday following a disturbance.
Police on Thursday said the man was wanted for a number of serious matters and police were attempting to arrest him when he struck one of them with a hammer and threatened officers with a screwdriver before he was shot.
The man was treated at the scene by ambulance officers for life-threatening injuries before being transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital where he remained in a stable condition.
Body-worn camera footage is being reviewed as part of an Ethical Standards Command investigation into the incident, which is subject to the oversight of the Crime and Corruption Commission.
Queensland Police including senior officers from Logan District, First Nations and Ethical Standards Command met with the man's family and elders on Thursday.
The man is expected to be charged with one count each of serious assault police officer, obstruct police, and acts intended to resist or prevent lawful arrest.
Police said the man was also likely to face dozens of other charges including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, threatening violence and stealing.
Anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident is asked to come forward.
