Logan McDonald has pledged his long-term future to Sydney, signing a four-year contract extension that will take the key forward through to free agency.
The 22-year-old's new deal, set to expire at the end of 2028, shuts the gate on any potential move back home to Western Australia after Fremantle had reportedly been interested in his services.
McDonald joins Errol Gulden, Will Hayward, Oliver Florent and James Rowbottom in recommitting to the first-placed Swans this season.
"I’m absolutely rapt to stay here in the red and white, this place is like my second home. I’ve been here for four years now and stoked to be here for another four,” McDonald said.
McDonald's new deal comes only days after he missed a set shot from just outside 50 that could have delivered a comeback win over the Dockers at the SCG.
The one-point defeat, Sydney's second of the season, ended a 10-game winning streak.
McDonald has played 59 senior games for the Swans since being taken with the No.4 pick in the 2020 national draft.
He has been key to Sydney's forward line reconfiguration following the retirement of Lance Franklin, kicking 22 goals from 15 games this season.
“We have to remember he’s only 22-years old and he has a lot of development to go, but we feel he has all the attributes to be one of the league’s best key forwards," said Swans general manager of football Leon Cameron.
“As we plan for the future we see Logan as an extremely important member of the group, and we’re excited to see him hone his craft in the next few seasons.”
