Chevron's massive Wheatstone LNG plant, which supplies a large portion of Western Australia's gas, has been hit by an outage amid ongoing industrial action.
The plant on WA's Pilbara coast has been the subject of recent stop-work action over worker pay.
Chevron confirmed the outage in a statement on Thursday evening, saying domestic gas facilities were unaffected.
"Chevron Australia is working to resume full production at the Wheatstone Gas Facility following a fault which has impacted about 25 per cent of LNG production," the statement said.
"The cause has been identified and restart activities have commenced."
On Friday, about 500 workers walked off the job at Chevron's Pilbara operations as unions and management remained deadlocked over a new enterprise bargaining agreement.
Friday's stoppages affected Wheatstone's offshore platform, its downstream processing facility, as well as some operations at the Gorgon LNG project.
European gas prices spiked on the back of the news, with the facilities together accounting for over five per cent of global liquefied natural gas supplies.
The union representing the workers, Offshore Alliance, said claims related to job security, rosters, classification structure, worksite transfers, training and rates of pay.
Gorgon and Wheatstone supply 44 per cent of WA’s domestic gas and daily revenue from the projects is estimated at $76 million a day, according to research group EnergyQuest.
