An accused murderer has laughed while facing a court where his lawyer asked for him to be seen by a nurse.
Harrison Hilton-Taylor, 27, has been charged with murdering a 46-year-old man in Melbourne's southeast earlier this week.
Police said the victim, Spiros Triandafilidis, was found injured on the side of a road on the corner of Little Ave and Widdop Cres in Hampton East about 12.30pm on Tuesday.
Emergency services tried to perform CPR on Mr Triandafilidis, but he died at the scene.
The two men were not known to each other, police confirmed.
Hilton-Taylor faced Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday afternoon by video link from jail, wearing a white vest over a black shirt.
His lawyer Bronwen Robertson asked that the 27-year-old be seen by a nurse while in custody as he has schizoaffective disorder and needed medication.
Prosecutor Connor Rattray asked for time for police investigators to compile a brief of evidence due to the amount of CCTV and body-worn camera footage that needed to be processed.
After the short procedural hearing, Magistrate Phillip Goldberg addressed media applications and required reporters to appear on camera.
The accused killer broke out into laughter as reporters addressed the magistrate.
He has been remanded in custody to next appear in court on May 9.
Outside court, police continue to investigate the circumstances around the killing, including Mr Triandafilidis' movements before his death.
"Our thoughts are also with this man’s family at this devastating time and police will ensure they have access to all the appropriate support services," Homicide Squad Detective Inspector Dean Thomas said.
Victoria Police said Mr Triandafilidis was captured on CCTV approaching Bluff Rd from Thornburn Ave about 12.14pm and described him as about 177cm tall, balding, wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants.
Police issued a plea for dashcam footage from anyone who drove north or south on Bluff Rd in Hampton East between 12pm and 1pm on January 2.
